What better place to be but at Kalakshetra, Chennai ! (23rd Jan - 30th Jan 2015)

23rd of January to 30th of January 2015 - The 1000 Crane Project will be conducted at Kalakshetra in Chennai. One of the most prestigious institutes for arts and education in India.

The 5th camp is also going to be unique, as it is an all girls camp - we have 7 girls from St.Anthony's Girls Home, in Verna travelling with us for the camp. St.Anthony's Girls Home, is a home for girls from low-income group backgrounds, managed by the sisters of St.Anthony's congregation. Tara Trust has been working with them since July 2013, on a weekly basis. This is the first time that some of them shall be travelling out of Goa.
There are 10 girls from Sri Shankara Matriculation School in Chennai, where Nalamdana, our partner organisation offers scholarships to the students for higher studies.

The camp will have 3 main workshops through the week - dance, printing and photography. The dance workshop shall be conducted by Ms.Priya Murli, a renowned and experienced dancer from Chennai. Printing shall be a part of the Tara Trust team workshop, alongwith photography conducted by professional photographer Mr.Kaushik Jay. The idea is to culminate these workshops into a performance and presentation on the last day for the children.

Dance, Printing, Photography, Interaction, Arts, are all mediums for us to get the children to think for themselves, their spaces, their actions, their views, and take back new perspectives.
